Project3 was contracted by the Perth Chung Wah Association in partnership with the State Government to provide event development and operational delivery for the inaugural concept event in May 2019.
The event was held at the Burswood Park Peninsula and Project3 worked closely with the Burswood Park Board to deliver the event. The event concept was based around Chinese Cultural Celebrations, including Dragon Boat Racing, Kite Flying, Floating Lanterns and other significant cultural performances. The festival concept was introduced to highlight Perth as a target destination for Chinese visitors by showcasing the strong cultural links.
Project3 provided support and advice to the key stakeholders in developing the concepts and acted as a central point to coordinate and develop all activities between cultural groups. The project had an extremely tight timeline and operational challenges for delivery within an already busy event space and time of year. While supporting in strategy development Project3 took responsibility for all operational implementation from the approval process through to the booking of suppliers and site management and delivery.
Approximately 20,000 people attended the festival over the 10 day period that offered live music, fireworks, food trucks, displays and exhibitions, cultural movies, installations all around the centre piece demonstration Dragon Boat Regatta on the Swan River. Project3’s knowledge and experience in stakeholder liaison and management ensured that key organisations were engaged effectively and were able to provide support to ensure a successful outcome. Existing relationships with partners and stakeholders also provided many benefits given the tight timelines and need for quick decision making processes and approvals.
